January Wrap-Up

Stay in and

This year, I’ve decided to start doing monthly wrap-ups. You can look forward to these posts on the first of every month, with the previous month being discussed.

Deciding what I wanted to include in these posts was hard, but in each of these, you’ll find: books I’ve read this month, posts published, as well as news (be it personal or public). Enjoy!

Books I’ve Read:

I had a very rocky start to this year. 2018 began with me in a horrible slump, and not having read anything since I had finished Reign of the Fallenwritten by Sarah Glenn Marsh, the week before. Despite that horrible slump, I was able to sneak in two novellas, A Night at the Mall by M. Hollis, and Open Mic Night at the End of the World by Jessica Meyers.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn HugoAfter those two, I struggled for a while. I read bits and pieces of other books, namely Piecing Me Together by Renée Watson, Curved Horizon by Taylor Brooke, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I haven’t finished either of those, but I did finish another book that I’ve been reading for a while, Dead Boys by Gabriel Squailia.

Now that February has begun, I’m still reading Piecing Me Together, Curved Horizon, and The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I’ve started listening to The House of Power by Patrick Carman, which was a series that I loved when I was younger.

Published Posts:

Unfortunately, due to my reading slump and school work and work, I put this blog on a very short hiatus. Here are the posts that were published, though, in the order they were published.

Jan 1st: Best Books of 2017
Jan 3rd: Review #139 // Reign of the Fallen – Sarah Glenn Marsh
Jan 6th: Review #140 // Ripped Pages – M. Hollis
Jan 9th: Trans Tropes That Have Got to Go (as Told by Trans Readers)
Jan 12th: Review #141 // The Picture of Dorian Gray – Oscar Wilde
Jan 15th: The A to Z Book Tag
Jan 18th: Review #142 // Open Mic Night at the End of the World – Jessica Meyers
Jan 21st: Review #143 // A Night at the Mall – M. Hollis
Jan 30th: Review #144 // Dead Boys – Gabriel Squailia

I also started numbering my reviews, so if you notice that some of the titles haven’t been updated yet, don’t worry about it! Doing that small revamp has been nice, because it helps me keep everything in order, and it’s much easier for me to keep track of these things.

I would also like to say this: Thank you for the love that my Trans Tropes post has gotten! It has, by far, been one of my most popular posts, and that is such a wonderful thing to see. I’m so happy that people care about these issues so much, and I will definitely be doing more similar posts in the future.

Misc. News:

I want to try to do more author interviews and guest posts, so if you’re interested in that, please email me! I’m also a little behind in reading, so if you notice the number of reviews coming out slowing down, that’s why. I’ll try to supplement those missing posts with TBRs and lists, but

Even though I’ve been in a bad slump, I’ve still been active in the community. I was contacted by a publisher to do a blog tour for an upcoming middle grade fantasy, which was compared to one of my favorite middle grade series, so I’ve very excited to read it. I was also given another ARC that I was highly anticipating, but since I’m not sure if it’s “public” yet, I’ll just continue to give hints about it. 😉

As for personal stuff, not much has happened. New semester has started, so I have mostly new classes to take. I’m taking a college class for Queer Literature, and I’m very excited to get into the required reading. A lot of it is older lit, but there are a few that are more recent, and that are also highly praised. I’m very excited for this class!

And that’s that! If you can think of other things I can include in these wrap-ups, please let me know in the comments! Otherwise, I look forward to working this blog for another month! 😀
